Megan & Emil / Willowdale Estate / Boston Wedding

Now this is how you kick off a wedding season. It wasn’t too long ago that we were up bright and early wandering the Boston South End with Megan and Emil for their engagement photos. Their chemistry (and awesomeness) was pretty apparent right from when we met them – to announce their engagement they had their cats reading bridal magazines on camera.

We’ll try to keep the text here brief, as there are plenty of images (with a few moving ones) to tell this amazing story. Our favorite weddings are usually the ones that reflect the couple, and it’s when the bride and groom (and everyone else involved) really include a part of themselves in the wedding that the magic happens. At the end of a wedding, what we remember isn’t really how amazing the decorations were – it’s how much effort Megan spent hand painting those beautiful stone owls. We aren’t remembering how great the music for the first dance sounded – it’s how much fun Megan and Emil had showing off their “robot” to their amazing family and friends who came in from all over the world. It isn’t at every wedding that the bride gives the groom a bad-ass chef’s knife, and how often are you going to see the groom climb into a tub with the groomsmen – literally six men in a tub. We remember those moments, and our job is to make sure everyone else remembers them, too.

We always mention to our clients early on that the biggest added benefit of having an engagement (aside from having a great time just hanging out with us!) is getting comfortable and relaxed in front of our cameras. We take a relatively hands-off approach, and we love letting our couples be themselves and just relax. It doesn’t take long into one of these sessions for couples to get into the groove of things, and when the wedding comes around, everything just feels perfectly natural. Megan and Emil made our job easy from the start, and they gave us such an amazing day to work with.

Of course, we have to thank Nichole and the Willowdale Estate for a gorgeous venue and keeping everything rolling along perfectly on schedule.
